Beginning and Intermediate Oil Painting

Valorie has developed a comprehensive curriculum, providing basic information frequently overlooked in many art classes. Well known travel photojournalist Ron Stern will share the secrets you need to know how to take great digital pictures. Whether you have a small point and shoot or an expensive SLR camera, learn how to look for and take the best possible shots. The class begins inside where you learn about basic camera operations and techniques the pros use. Then, go outside to practice what you have learned. Bring your camera. Ron will help you learn how to see creatively, the techniques of framing, when to use fill flash, reflectors, how to use manual settings for more versatility, and how to use natural lighting for dramatic effect. He will also share some options for low-cost methods to create a full-color, hardcover photo book of your images.

PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE HUDSON GARDENS
Enjoy the beauty of the season strolling through the beautiful gardens of The Hudson Gardens & Event Center. These classes are taught by gardening and art professionals. You may view the gardens from 4-5 pm prior to your class session. Check in at the Gift Shop and identify yourself as an ACC class participant for that day. Additionally, meet your instructor 10 minutes prior to the class start time at the gazebo located in front of the gift shop at the main parking area. Classes are held in the Hudson Residence, a one-story home located northwest of the gazebo.

Bits & Bytes of Color – The Theory and Practice of Color Management

Learn about light and color temperature, how color vision works, how men and women’s vision differs and secrets of your own vision. Introduction to the basic theory of color management and color spaces (sRGB, Adobe RGB, Lab and CIE XYZ); digital camera quirks; white balance; understanding bits, bytes, and pixels; ppi and dpi; profiling your monitor; and much more. The practical side of color management is demonstrated using Photoshop CS3/CS4 for color set up, soft proofing, inkjet printer set up and workflow. Bonus section on sharpening. Leave with tips and tricks you can use right away! Designed for intermediate to advanced amateur photographers with a working knowledge of their camera, digital photography and Photoshop (this is not a Photoshop class). No cameras or laptops needed. You can bring a JPEG image on a flash drive to share.

The workshops are offered under the expert instruction of Agnes Sanchez. Please note that you must be 18 or older or receive permission from the instructor to enroll. Immerse yourself in the fascinating and exciting art form of glass blowing. In this hands-on workshop, learn the fundamentals on health and safety in the studio, how to manipulate and work molten glass on a blow pipe and punty rod and use specific tools to create your own masterpieces to take home. FRIDAY NIGHTS GLASS BLOWING
The infinite uses of glass and fire have always been a fascination to people all over the world. This 12 hour hands-on workshop offers the student the physical handling of the glass as well as gaining working knowledge of the principles behind glass blowing. Through the use of unique and proven teaching techniques, emphasis will be placed on increased working temperature, bubble set-up and teamwork. You will experience making solid free-form shapes and basic blown forms and color formation.
