Make a Skirt

Animate Your Chair!

A chair can be more than a place to sit. It can become a piece
of sculpture that is as unique as you are. Express yourself
using fabrics, old clothing, and acrylic paint and transform
a wood
chair into a work of art. Bring a wood chair and scraps
of fabrics, recycled
jewelry and clothing to class. A more detailed material
list will be given the first class session.
Johanna Goodman is a nationally known mixed media artist
and has created over 1,000 chairs: many have been commissioned
and are
in private collections such as the Smithsonian Museum.

Brazilian Embroidery: Fuschias and Butterfly

Create beautiful three-dimensional Brazilian Embroidery. Use a
variety of rayon threads to add stunning color to the small piece
(8”round). The stitches are easy and fun to learn and include
stem, couching, French knots, bullions, cast-ons, knotted lazy
daisy and pistil stitches! These realistic flowers and foliage
look like they are growing on your fabric and have attracted the
butterfly. Kit will provide everything you need to get started,
including beads and specialty threads. Bring small 6” embroidery
