ARA 211—Arabic Language III – 3 credits

• Prerequisite: ARA 112 (Arabic II) or instructor permission
• Textbook: Ahlan – Wa Salan, by Sahlad, Yale University Press, with audio CDs (copies of CDs to be purchased from ACC media department)
• Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student at the intermediate low level should be able to:
  
  1. Understand and respond appropriately in simple conversations.
  2. Initiate, comprehend, and maintain a simple conversation.
  3. Demonstrate comprehension of expanded written selections, including some literary selections.
  4. Create guided, written compositions.
  5. Demonstrate enhanced awareness of major cultural contributions associated with the target language.
  6. Read selections in various genres.
