ARA 212—Arabic Language IV – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: ARA 111 (Arabic I) or instructor permission
  • Textbook: Ahlan – Wa Salan, by Sahlad, Yale University Press, with audio CDs (copies of CDs to be purchased from ACC media department)
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student at the intermediate low level should be able to:
    1. Participate in extended discussion, with increased accuracy in pronunciation, idioms, and grammar.
    2. Describe and narrate normal events.
    3. Read and comprehend literary selections at the appropriate time.
    4. Write the Arabic language so as to convey preferences based on personal experiences.
    5. Be aware of geographical and cultural differences within the Arabic language areas.
    6. Appreciate the cultural differences between the Arabic language cultures and non-Arabic cultures.
