CHI 101 – Conversational Chinese I – 3 credits
- Prerequisite: None
- Required Materials: Integrated Chinese Level 1, Part 1 – Simplified characters characters – Textbook, Workbook/ Lab manual and Audio CDs.
- Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student at the novice level of Conversational Chinese should be able to:
- Comprehensibly reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of the language.
- Understand basic oral statements, instructions, and questions.
- Accurately apply vocabulary and learned phrases in simple oral expressions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in elementary interchanges.
- Employ comprehensible grammar in writing simple statements.
- Read and comprehend basic information.
- Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors in everyday situations.
