FRE 202 – Conversational French IV – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: FRE 201 or instructor permission.
  • Required Materials: French In Action, the Capretz Method, 2nd ed., Yale University Press. Textbook & Workbook (part 2) with audio CDs. (Copies of the CDs can be purchased from the media Center). Chapter 27 through 33 of the textbook and workbook will be covered in this course.
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student at the intermediate high level should be able to:
  1. Accurately reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of French.
  2. Understand advanced oral statements in a variety of social circumstances.
  3. Accurately apply vocabulary and learned phrases in intermediate oral expressions.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in intermediate interchanges.
  5. Employ accurate grammar in writing more complex statements.
  6. Read and comprehend intermediate level information.
  7. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors in everyday situations.
