FRE 212 – French Language IV – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: FRE 211 or instructor permission.
  • Required Materials: PAUSE-CAFE, 1st edition, by Megharbi & Pellet (McGraw-Hill Publ.) and QUIA Online Cahier d’Activités.

  • Course Objectives: The course is intended to provide the students with more advanced knowledge of French grammar and syntax, with skills necessary for more advanced oral and written communication, and culture understanding through literary and reading selections.
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student at the intermediate-high level should be able to:
  1. Participate in extended discussions, with increases accuracy in pronunciation, idioms and grammar.
  2. Describe and narrate normal events using correct grammar and syntax.
  3. Read and demonstrate comprehension of literary and other reading selections.
  4. Write the French language so as to convey opinions and preferences based on personal experiences.
  5. Demonstrate awareness of geographical and cultural differences with the French language areas.
  6. Demonstrate appreciation of geographical and cultural differences within the French language cultures and American culture.
