GRK 105 – Beginning Ancient Greek I – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Required Materials:
  • Course Objectives: to help students develop proficiency in listening, speaking, writing and especially reading Ancient Greek
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
    1. Comprehensibly reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of Ancient Greek
    2. Demonstrate understanding of basic oral statements, instructions and questions
    3. Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and syntax in elementary interchanges
    4. Use appropriate vocabulary, grammar and syntax in writing elementary statements and paragraphs
    5. Demonstrate ability to read and comprehend elementary written information and texts for translation from Greek to English.
    6. Demonstrate understanding and appreciation of the culture of ancient Greece.
    7. Demonstrate ability to observe, analyze and synthesize linguistic and cultural information in context.
