GRK 106 – Beginning Ancient Greek II – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: GRK 105 or instructor permission
  • Required Materials:
  • Course Objectives: to help students develop increased proficiency in listening, speaking, writing and especially reading Ancient Greek
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
    1. Comprehensibly reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of Ancient Greek
    2. Demonstrate understanding of elementary oral statements, instructions and questions
    3. Demonstrate increased knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and syntax in elementary interchanges
    4. Use appropriate vocabulary, grammar and syntax in writing elementary statements and short compositions
    5. Demonstrate ability to read and comprehend more advanced texts for translation from Greek to English.
    6. Demonstrate continued understanding and appreciation of the culture of ancient Greece.
    7. Demonstrate ability to observe, analyze and synthesize linguistic and cultural information in context.
