JPN 211 - Japanese Language III3 credits – GT-AH4

  • Prerequisite: JPN 112 (Japanese II), or instructor permission
  • Required Materials: Text: Integrated Intermediate Japanese with CDs & Workbook/Lab Manual + Living Japanese with DVD.
  • Course Objectives: to provide students with the opportunity to improve their conversational, listening, reading, writing, and culturally appropriate skills through a diversity of contexts. Emphasis is on appropriate situational usage in everyday conversation; more complex sentence patterns, new vocabulary, and Kanji compounds are introduced through a practical activity and task approach.
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
    1. Understand and respond appropriately in simple conversation
    2. Initiate, comprehend, and maintain meaningful communication in familiar situations
    3. Demonstrate comprehension of expanded written selections, including some literary selections
    4. Create guided compositions
    5. Demonstrate enhanced awareness of major cultural contributions associated with Japanese language and culture
