JPN 212 - Japanese Language IV3 credits GT-AH4

  • Prerequisite: JPN 211 (Japanese III), or instructor permission
  • Required Materials: Text: : Integrated Intermediate Japanese with CDs & Workbook/Lab Manual + Living Japanese with DVD.
  • Course Objectives: to provide students with the opportunity to improve their conversational, listening, reading, writing, and culturally appropriate skills through a diversity of contexts. Emphasis is on appropriate situational usage in everyday conversation; more advanced sentence patterns, vocabulary, and Kanji compounds.
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, student at the intermediate high level should be able to:
    1. Participate in extended discussions, with increased accuracy in pronunciation, idioms and grammar.
    2. Describe and narrate normal events
    3. Read and demonstrate comprehension of literary selections in context
    4. Write the Japanese language so as to convey opinions and preferences
    5. Demonstrate and understanding and appreciation of the cultural differences between the Japanese culture and American culture.
