LAT 112 - Latin Language II – 5 credits
- Prerequisite: LAT 111 or instructor permission
- Required Materials: Oxford Latin Course (2nd edition) – Part 2.
- Course Objectives: to give students the opportunity to acquire additional basics of Latin grammar, develop a larger repertoire of Latin vocabulary, and be introduced to authentic texts by well-known Roman authors. Students will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Roman contribution to western culture and civilization.
- Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate improved pronunciation of classical or ecclesiastical Latin.
- Understand and respond to Latin directions and questions.
- Demonstrate understanding of more advanced Latin vocabulary.
- Demonstrate the ability to write more complicated Latin sentences using correct and idiomatic syntax.
- Demonstrate comprehension of authentic Latin readings.
- Demonstrate continued appreciation for the contribution of Latin to the modern world.
