Course Objectives:
- To provide the student with the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of Spanish grammar, vocabulary and syntax.
- To provide the student with continued practice in basic aural, oral, reading and writing skills.
- To provide the student with continued practice in translations from English to Spanish & Spanish to English.
- To provide the student with continued opportunity to learn more about the culture of the Spanish speaking countries.
Student Performance Objectives: The beginner student will demonstrate acquisition in the following areas:
- Demonstrate improved pronunciation and intonation of the language.
- Comprehend and respond to oral directions and questions.
- Verbalize simple personal ideas using correct pronunciation and grammar.
- Comprehend simple, brief, written selections.
- Write simple, guided compositions based on everyday situations using correct grammar.
- Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors in everyday situations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of some contributions of the target culture to the culture of the United States.
