SPA 114 – FAST-TRACK SPANISH I & II

Prerequisite: Recommended for language enthusiasts or for those who have had two years of the target language either in high school, from previous study, through exposure in the home, or equivalent CAPE placement scores.

Student Performance Objectives: The goals established for the novice-mid level student are:

1. Reproduce, in a comprehensive manner, the pronunciation and intonation of the foreign language.
2. Understand simple oral statements, instructions, and questions on authentic real-life situations.
3. Articulate and apply learned vocabulary, phrases, and grammatical structures to express personal ideas on everyday topics in oral exchanges.
4. Accurately use vocabulary and grammatical structures in simple descriptions and narratives.
5. Read and comprehend simple literary selections on everyday topics.
6. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors and values in everyday situations.
7. Identify cultural artifacts in the target world.
8. Consistently present insightful evidence of an awareness of the geographical area of the target world.
