SPA 211 - SPANISH LANGUAGE III

Prerequisite: Spanish 112 or instructor’s permission.

Course Objectives: Students at this level are beginning to create with language in order to communicate their needs, desires, and emotions in survival situations and contribute to challenging conversations. The course is designed to bring students to this level of proficiency by emphasizing the use of elements needed for daily conversations, listening, and practice.

This course is intended to provide the student with an opportunity:

  • To acquire more advanced knowledge of Spanish grammar and syntax.
  • To have additional practice in more complicated aural, oral, reading and writing skills.
  • To acquire additional practice in more sophisticated translations.
  • To learn more about Spanish speaking countries and their relationship to the world.

Student Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this intermediate level course, the student should be able to:

  1. Understand and respond appropriately in simple conversation.
  2. Initiate, comprehend and maintain simple conversation.
  3. Read, comprehend, and discuss expanded written selections, including literary selections in simple language.
  4. Create guided, written compositions.
  5. Explain cultural contributions associated with the target language.
