SPA 212 - SPANISH LANGUAGE IV

Prerequisite: Spanish 211 or instructor’s permission.

Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are to provide the students with the opportunity:

  • To continue to acquire more advanced knowledge of Spanish grammar and syntax.
  • To practice more aural, oral, reading and writing skills.
  • To practice more sophisticated translations from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
  • To learn more about Spanish speaking countries and their relationship and interactions to the rest of the world.

Student Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this intermediate level course, the student should be able to:

  1. Participate in class and small group discussions with increased precision in pronunciation, idiomatic expressions, and grammar.
  2. Describe events through narration.
  3. Read and comprehend literary selections at the intermediate-advanced level.
  4. Have an increased awareness of cultural and geographical differences within the target cultures and the American culture.
  5. Appreciate the cultural differences between the target cultures and American culture.
