Open Mic flyer imageOpen Mic, Scholarship, and Progenitor Celebration

Come share your writing at our last open mic for the school year. Or just enjoy an afternoon of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. In addition to our usual open mic, we'll celebrate this year's Writers Studio Scholarship winner and the writers published in this year's Progenitor, ACCs award-winning literary magazine, with cake and drink.

Thursday, April 29, at 4:00 p.m. in 2nd floor student lounge at ACC.

We Served / We Also Served: Free Writing Workshop for Military Families

Free Writing Workshop for Military Families imageA free writing workshop for active duty military, veterans and / or their families. Writing about both the positive and negative aspects of military family life can serve as both a creative outlet and a therapeutic activity. If the stories are then shared with the wider public, our culture can come to more fully understand the realities experienced not only by those who serve in the military, but also by their families.

The workshop will be led by Diana Serquina, a writer, social activist, and self-proclaimed military brat, and Nate Jordan, a writer, publisher, and veteran from the Gulf War.  They will lead separate workshops to allow space for both veterans and their families to reflect on their experiences and how their lives have been affected by service.

Sunday, May 9,  2010 (Mother’s Day) from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Arapahoe Community College, in the Half Moon Theatre

Please RSVP to Leah at leah.rogin-roper@arapahoe.edu
