Associate of General Studies - Engineering Emphasis
Degree and Certificate Requirements
2008-09 Catalog

This program is designed for the student who wishes to receive a traditional four-year engineering bachelor’s degree by beginning at ACC and then transferring to an engineering school.

Students must choose one of four program options. Please contact the Health, Math, Science and Engineering Division at 303.797.5991 for more information.

General Education (50-53 Credit Hours)

I. Mathematics (14 credit hours)

MAT 201 Calculus I 5 credits
MAT 202 Calculus II 5 credits
MAT 203 Calculus III 4 credits

II. Sciences (15 credit hours)

CHE 111 General College Chemistry I 5 credits
PHY 211 Physics: Calculus Based I 5 credits
PHY 212 Physics: Calculus Based II 5 credits
III. Communications (9 credit hours)
ENG 121 English Composition I 3 credits
ENG 122 English Composition II 3 credits
COM 115 Public Speaking 3 credits

IV. Humanities and Social Sciences (12-15 credit hours) Depending upon program option selection below, either 12 or 15 Humanities and Social Sciences credit hours are required:

ECO 201 Principles of Macroeconomics 3 credits
ECO 202 Principles of Microeconomics 3 credits
POS 105 Introduction to Political Science 3 credits
POS 111 American Government 3 credits
SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology I 3 credits

ANT 101 Cultural Anthropology 3 credits

EGG 212 Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics 3 credits

Restricted MAT or EGG elective – select from:

CSC 160 (C++), MAT 175, 255, 260 3 credits

Computer Science in Engineering Concentration (15 credit hours)
12 credit hours of Humanities and Social Sciences electives required.

Mechanical Engineering Concentration (12 credit hours)
15 credit hours of Humanities and Social Sciences electives required.

NOTE: This degree will be conferred as an Associate of General Studies. Engineering Emphasis will not be listed on student's transcript or diploma.
