Admission Requirements: Emergency Medical
Technician Department EMT-Basic and EMT-Basic Enhanced
- Minimum of 18 years of age to attend off-site emergency department clinicals.
- Current CPR certificate American Heart Association Health Care
Provider-Level C, or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Immunizations: Hepatitis B (the first two injections), MMR, Tetanus and Chicken Pox
- ACCUPLACER test
All students must take the CPT and the only students that are exempt are those students who can show
that they have received a degree from a four year university.
All ACC EMS students must get a criminal background check (CBC). This process must be started two weeks prior to
the start of the on-campus EMT Basic or IV class.

Admission Requirements: Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certificate
This course has been developed for fire and ambulance personnel who provide advanced emergency care under the
supervision of a physician advisor. To be eligible for admission to the Paramedic Education Program, the student must:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a current, valid EMT certificate.
- Complete a minimum of one year experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) with an ambulance service, fire department, or rescue unit prior to course admission (2000 hours).
- Submit a letter of recommendation and sponsorship from a present or former employer.
- Submit a letter of recommendation form a current o former physician advisor.
- Submit all academic transcripts.
- Provide a recode of a recent physical examination from a physician on the HealthONE form provided.
- Provide proof of MMR, Tetanus and Chicken Pox Vaccinations.
- Provide proof of completed hepatitis vaccination series.
- Provide CBI.
- Provide proof of completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation course.
- Provide proof of completion of an IV Approval course.
- Provide a copy of a current CPR Provider card.
- Provide proof of successful completion of college level Anatomy and Physiology.
- Supply a copy of Transcripts indicating completion of BIO201 and BIO202
- Objectives of Anatomy and Physiology course taken if not BIO201 and BIO202.
- Successful completion of prescreening exam and interview.
