Awards for Excellence in English and Literature Each spring, the
English Department honors students who excel in English and literature.
The award is named in honor of the first chair of the English Department
at ACC. Students who receive these awards generally distinguish
themselves when they transfer to other schools. Criteria for awards
include:
- nomination from an English/literature instructor at ACC
- three 3-credit English courses, two of which must be literature
courses; the third required course may be a literature course
or ENG 121, 122, 131, 230, or 235
- A's in the three qualifying courses; no grade below B in other
English or literature courses at ACC
- academic honesty
- unanimous endorsement of the English/literature faculty at ACC.
