Writers Studio:
A Community for Writers

Writers Studio Home | Events Calendar | Writing Credentials | Literary Contest | English Home

Writers Studio will be taking a brief haitus for the summer, but we will be back by mid-August. Many, many thanks to all our guests who made our events successful--both our guest artists and our audience.

This past school year, Writers Studio presented and participated in eleven events including workshops, readings, contest, festivals, and toasts. It successfully petitioned for an AA degree with an emphasis in creative writing which will be included in Arapahoe Community College's next catalogue and present a curriculum of study for those students interested in pursuing the writer's path. Presently, it is working with Adams State College to create a seamless credit transfer for our students interested in pursuing a BA degree in Creative Writing. Students representing Writers Studio have read at the ACC Foundation Fundraising Luncheon and at the ACC Commencement Ceremony. Our classes and workshops continue to fill with students and community members anxious to pursue their writing passions.

We are already looking forward to next year. Writers Studio will be co-hosting a poetry festival with the Columbine Poets on September 20th. We will be celebrating the book publications of ACC faculty Jeff Broome and Lance Rubin. We are working with Art from Ashes, Many Mountains Moving, and Colorado Poets Association to create some combined literary events. We will have open mics, showcases, literary contests, workshops, and festivals. And we will start our next goal of creating a Writers Studio literary club for those students who want to continue working with their peers in a writing group.

See you next Fall!

Our goal has been to create a writing community within ACC for both students and community members, and, with your help, we're doing it.
