(August 12, 2010 - Littleton, Colorado) - The Colorado Gallery of the Arts will present an exhibition of work by ACC’s talented art faculty starting August 31.
Trish Sangelo, Gallery Director and a gifted photographer, says “Our faculty show is a great way to show off the skilled artists we have teaching in our Fine Arts Department at ACC. It also helps us promote our classes".
Working in many media, ACC faculty artists participating include: JT Urband, painting; Olga Esquibel, painting; Jan Fordyce, painting; Pam Hake, painting; Susan Elliott, drawing; Jennifer Ghormley, printmaking; Amy Bailey, metals; Joshua Leconey, photography; Robin Furuta and Jim Cooper, ceramics; Trish Sangelo, photography; Kathy Holt, ceramics and paintings; Jim Cannata, photography and Randy Burns, jewelry.
A number of ACC faculty artists have won awards for their work. Robin Furuta won Second Place in the Colorado Clay exhibition in Golden. It was the "functional award" from the Juror Adrian Arleo and Castle Clay. Pam Hake received an award at the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies' Exhibition in Salt Lake City, Utah. Carla O’Connor was the juror.
Randy Burns received a First Place award for earrings in the professional division in the NAJA annual design competition. NAJA is the local jewelry supply company that started a jewelry design completion four years ago for professional and student metalsmiths. Each year a different piece of jewelry is selected for the competition. This year, the piece of jewelry was earrings. Mr. Burns says “In the four years of the competition’s history, I have won First Place twice and Second Place once. NAJA asked me to be a judge at next year’s competition so I will not be competing. The Faculty exhibition will be open from August 31 through October 1. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 3 from 5-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, Noon-5 p.m., Tuesday evenings, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 18 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
