(July 12, 2010 - Littleton, Colorado) – Arapahoe Community College today announces it is now approved by Project Management Institute to become a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) effective August 2010.
PMI R.E.P.s are educational organizations that have demonstrated that they are capable of providing world-class, effective, project management training. Through PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification and instructional design, R.E.P.s provide the project management training necessary to earn and to maintain Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Program Management Professional (PgMP)® and other PMI professional credentials.
ACC project management courses are offered entirely online for the busy professional. The PMP® Certification exam preparation course is being developed for courses starting in August. This preparation course complements the existing Project Management Certificate which may be obtained in less than a year. Students of the ACC project management courses may claim Professional Development Unit (PDU) or contact hour credits recognized by PMI.
Dr. Cindy Somers, Dean of the ACC School of Math, Business and Technology, says, “We are looking forward to beginning our PMI classes this fall. We will give our students the education they need to take advantage of job opportunities for college-trained, professional project managers. Our program will be offered online, meaning students won’t have to interrupt their career or family obligations while they work towards getting PMI credentials.
“PMI’s recent survey of training providers shows that 80 percent of organizations seeking suppliers of project management training strongly prefer to work with PMI R.E.P.s. They view their affiliation with PMI, the leading standard-setting professional association for project management, as a stamp of quality on the training services they purchase,” said Edwin Andrews, Ph.D., director of academic and educational programs and services at PMI. “Organizations want to protect their investment in project management training and they know that a PMI R.E.P. delivers such training in a cost-effective and efficient manner.”
