(May 26, 2011 – Littleton, Colorado) - Arapahoe Community College (ACC) will host a summer concert series featuring musical performances throughout the month of June. The concerts, sponsored by Student Affairs, are free and open to the public and will be held on the west lawn of the college’s Littleton campus. Bring a blanket and check out these great performances:
Tuesday, June 7—The Windjammers Jazz Orchestra
The Windjammers Jazz Orchestra is a 10-piece big band made up of Colorado’s finest pro musicians. Join us at 6 p.m. for swing dance lessons. Whether you choose to dance or lounge on a blanket, you can listen to the sweet and smooth as satin vocal styling of Jean Duane or the rich crooning sound of the Sinatra like voice of Danny Wein.
Wednesday, June 15 —The Loose Nuts
The Loose Nuts is a Classic Country Cover Band covering legendary artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and much more. The band features ACC’s very own automotive instructor Jason Daves.
Tuesday, June 21—The Indulgers
The Indulgers are a local band that combines Scottish, Irish and American musical styles into a fantastic new sound. Composed of five artists with a wide variety of musical influences, the Indulgers have created an amalgamation that has a distinctive Celtic sound, with elements of folk, rock and jazz thrown in for good measure. The Indulgers have received many awards and nominations from the Irish Music Association and Just Plain Folks to Ethnic CD of the Year and Celtic Song of the Year. On three occasions, they also received Westword's "World Music Award." A tour of Ireland in 2007 led to the opportunity of playing with legendary Irish band Horslips members, both in the United States and Ireland.
Tuesday, June 28—Melodic Expressions
Melodic Expressions epitomizes R&Bs, smooth, melodic sound performing the music of Miles Davis to Cee Lo Green. Featuring, ACC’s very own, Cobie Richardson with Ted Duncan on bass, Ronnecka Cox on keyboard, and Lee Brown, Jr. on saxophone. The Melodic Expressions Band has been in existence for five years and performed throughout Colorado.
