(April 29, 2011 – Littleton, Colorado) – Arapahoe Community College student Julie Backer was recognized with the Math, Business and Technology (MBT) Graduate Award last night for her high achievement in accounting.

Backer, of Centennial, is the third student to receive the MBT Graduate Award since the program began last year. MBT Dean Cindy Somers presented Backer with $500 and a plaque. The MBT award recognizes an MBT student who has outstanding academics, brings synergy to the classroom and maintains positive behavior in class.

 Backer enrolled at ACC in Fall 2004 and currently maintains a 4.0 grade point average while also working full time for the Chotin Group.

Backer was nominated by faculty members Sara Harris and Dianne Hall. Harris and Hall described Backer as a dedicated student who is always willing to help other students in and out of the classroom.
