Classes begin October 10 at Castle Rock Campus

(October 7, 2011 - Castle Rock, Colorado) Classes will begin at the new Arapahoe Community College Castle Rock Campus this Monday, October 10, at 4700 Castleton Way in Castle Rock.

The Castle Rock Campus will be offering courses in five categories:  associate of arts and associate of science transfer programs, career and technical education, workforce training, concurrent enrollment for high school students, and community education.  The Castle Rock Campus will also offer guaranteed transfer courses.

“Arapahoe Community College is proud to begin classes at the new Castle Rock Campus on Monday in an effort to accommodate the growing needs of our students in Castle Rock and the surrounding areas,” said ACC President Diana Doyle.  “The classrooms, computer labs and state-of-the-art technology in our new facility will allow ACC to provide the same innovative, accessible and affordable education to our students in the Douglas County community.”

Classes being offered at the Castle Rock Campus this fall include:  Astronomy I, Conversational Spanish I, Developmental Composition, English Composition I, Fundamentals of Mathematics, General Psychology I, Intermediate Algebra, Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Introduction to Philosophy, Introductory Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Public Speaking and World Regional Geography.

This semester’s classes at the Castle Rock Campus are being offered in an accelerated format, meaning that they will meet for eight weeks while providing the same number of credits as full-semester classes.  The traditional academic schedule will take effect during the 2012 spring semester beginning in January.

An internal open house was held at the Castle Rock Campus throughout the day on Thursday, October 6, for ACC faculty and staff.  Furthermore, ACC will host a VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception, as well as a community open house (4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.), at the Castle Rock Campus on Thursday, November 10.
