Event Management Certificate Program at ACC Begins May 3

(April 4, 2011 – Littleton, Colorado) - Arapahoe Community College is excited to announce the sixth year of its Event Management Certificate program will begin May 3. The program offers an advanced curriculum that provides a high quality, experiential education and training to those currently in the event management industry and those who want to enter the field.

“Our first five years have been a success. Many of our graduates have secured employment, been promoted within their current company or greatly increased their event planning experience either with planning or in obtaining sponsorships for city wide events, said Program Manager Erica Bullock-Jones of ACC’s Workforce Training program. “We are ready to train a new group of aspiring event management professionals in nearly every aspect of event planning. Whether you have a variety of experience or no experience at all this course will be beneficial for you.”

In partnership with the Colorado Festivals & Events Association (CFEA), ACC created a flexible program designed to maximize the skills of current and future event planning professionals.  The program consists of nine classes, each running one night per week, three hours each night for five weeks at the College’s Parker Campus. Classes are taught by industry professionals and cater to the student interested in furthering their knowledge and career in the event management field.

This year, the College is offering two weekend intensive classes covering wedding planning as well as event planning for non-profits.

The courses offered in ACC’s Event Management Program include: Introduction to Event Management, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing & Sales, Volunteer and Staff Management, Entertainment & Community Attractions, Food, Beverage, & Hospitality and Conventions, Arenas, & Sporting Events.

Classes can be taken individually or as a certificate program. Students who chose to earn a certificate will be required to take all the above classes (10 months in length), one weekend intensive class, complete an internship of 45 hours and create a portfolio.
