Students to Participate in Annual Speech Competition

(April 25, 2011 – Littleton, Colorado) - Arapahoe Community College (ACC) students will participate in the College’s annual speech competition from noon to 2:30 p.m. this Friday. Community members are invited to attend the competition and cheer on their favorite public speaking student.

Students will give a six to eight minute persuasive speech. Judges from the College will select a first, second and third place winner. Winners will receive $100, $75 and $50, respectively. The first-place winner will compete in the city-wide speech competition being held at Red Rocks Community College on May 6.

“Our past ACC winners have gone on to win the city-wide competition and are now giving the College’s commencement speech this year,” Instructor Terri Scrima said.

The competition will be held in the Waring Theatre, located in the College’s Main Building. ACC’s Main Campus is located at 5900 S. Santa Fe Drive, just south of historic downtown Littleton.
