Keys to Successful Advising
- Prepare for your advising appointment as if you were going to your doctor – write down any questions ahead of time; bring old records that might be relevant.
- Give your advisor as much info as possible, he or she can only advise based on information given by the student.
- Obtain a College Catalog as soon as you become an ACC student, even if you are not full time or have not declared a plan of study. The College Catalog contains valuable academic information.
- Ask a lot of questions!
- If you are new student, take your College Placement Test (CPT) before seeing an advisor. It is much easier to select courses once you know your CPT scores.
