Biography
Prior to ACC, Haynes worked at Bethel College, North Newton, KS as VP for Student Life and Dean of Students where he served on the Administrative Cabinet and provided oversight, supervision, and partnered with the professional staff in the areas of Residential Life, Student Activities & Engagement, Campus Ministries, Student Wellness (Counseling Services), Bethel College Campus Nurse, Central Student Life Office Operations (including the Host Family Programs & Parents Association), and Thresher Days (new and transfer student orientation). Haynes comes to ACC with over 25 years of experience working in Student Affairs, the other colleges/universities he worked at include 2 SUNY schools (SUNY Potsdam, and SUNY Oswego), Amherst College, Amherst, MA, Drew University, Madison, NJ, and Scripps College, Claremont, CA.
Haynes work and leadership experience includes working with professional staff and students in the following areas: Student Activities and Event Management, Women’s Center, Multicultural Center, LGBTQ+ Center, Residence Life/Living Learning Communities, Student Wellness (Mental and Physical), Religious Life, Academic Advising and Success Program Development, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Retention, Student Conduct (advocating and utilizing a restorative justice process), Crisis Management, Campus Safety and Emergency Preparedness (including being a twice certified ALICE Instructor, (active shooter invention)), Risk Management, Crisis Management, Behavioral Intervention, Retention, and Threat Assessment. Haynes has also worked closely with historically marginalized populations to ensure their success at college.
Haynes comes to ACC with a long career of leadership in Students Affairs. When asked, he would tell you that he still enjoys what he fondly refers to as the “good work” of assisting all students in reaching their educational goals today as he did when he first started years ago. Haynes is excited to join the ACC faculty, staff, and students to MOVE MOUNTAINS!
