Annual Fresh Thanks Volunteer Event at ACC
On a crisp and clear Saturday in November at Arapahoe Community College, 257 volunteers helped assemble and distribute 500 boxes of fresh and shelf stable food items.
Integrated Family Community Services (IFCS) was ready to orient volunteers at 8 a.m. so that families suffering from food insecurities could line their cars up to receive full boxes by 11 o’clock.
First, 500 boxes needed to be assembled.
ACC contributed 19 volunteers across two shifts for this year’s event.
ACC was just one of several community partners who helped make the 2023 Fresh Thanks distribution event a success:
American Family Insurance
Arapahoe Community College
Bethany Lutheran Church
Canvas Credit Union
Centennial Rotary
Columbine Kiwanis
Denver Metro South Rotary
Empower
Englewood Lions
Highlands Ranch Rotary
Littleton Rotary
Littleton Sertoma
Since 1964, in collaboration with community partners, IFCS has provided an immediate response to hunger, a most basic need.
A collective total of more than 700 hours went into helping nourish 2,249 individuals for the upcoming holidays.
The final stage included all of those boxes being loaded into the awaiting cars of thankful families.
