Biography

Dr. Charles Haarhues is the program chair of Arapahoe Community College’s Music Audio Technology degree program. He received his doctorate in music composition from Louisiana State University in 2005. Haarhues has received numerous commissions for both his electronic and acoustic compositions, and his works have been performed in the United States, Greece, Japan, and Costa Rica. In addition to his compositional and teaching activities, Haarhues is a jazz guitarist and has performed traditional Ghanaian drumming with Oscar Sulley, Abubakari Lunna and Gideon Alorwoyie.

Since creating the Music Audio Technology program in 2013, Dr. Haarhues has directed it’s growth, including the construction of the Waring recording studio in 2018. In 2022-2023 he produced the CD Ambient Domains, which consists of performances by ACC students and instructors (also available on select streaming services).
