What is your job at ACC?

Learning Technology Quality Assurance and Accessibility Specialist

What do you do at ACC (explain your role)?

In my role, I am responsible for supporting our students, faculty and instructors in the use of ACC's LMS (D2L). This involves troubleshooting and isolating issues as they arise with D2L and third-party vendors. I oversee the Learning Technology department's Helpdesk, support our 24X7 helpdesk and train students, faculty and instructors on d2l tools and processes. I develop Content, eLearning videos and documents in compliance with the Web IT Accessibility initiative of CCCS and ACC. I ensure Quality Assurance in the D2L environment and conduct internal QM reviews, compliance and assist with accommodation requests by making course material accessible as per need; and training instructors on the same.

How long have you been at ACC?

I have been with ACC for almost 7 years now

I enjoy working in a culturally diverse workforce and embrace the diversity, equity and inclusion practices at ACC.

What is your mountain (ultimate goal)?

My ultimate goal is to be able to stay in community college education and to support and mentor our students. I am big advocate for access and equity in higher education. I believe in the promise that all students have an equal opportunity to learn and it requires educators to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

What's your favorite ACC memory so far?

I have so many favorite ACC memories. One that stands out is when we transitioned to remote during the pandemic in 2020 (has it already been that long?). We faced challenges and came together as the big ACC family we are. And yes, it was wonderful to see everyone back on campus.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I have a collection of character mugs. I indulge in a new mug every time I travel.

Sleeping in late on the weekends.

What is your advice to future and current students at ACC?

Stay on the path to finish your degree, certificate or diploma and set yourself up for continued success. It can open doors for you that you may have never imagined.
