Spectrum Art Show 2021 Is Almost Here Thanks to Bobbi Shupe

ACC’s community art classes, through our Workforce and Community Programs department, does a lot more for you than provide a fun and easy way to expand on your art passion. Our community art students get the exclusive ability to enter up to 4 art works into the Colorado Gallery of the Arts here at ACC’s Littleton Campus. The Spectrum art show has the goal of exposing our community artists, and we accept art that has been worked on through out the year in our community art classes, or from their personal collection of past creations. Spectrum is open to the community and it’s a great way to show off your talents, we even have had artists sell their art at this exhibit!

One of the most impressive functions of this art show is that it is a juried art show, with several awards being issued from a renowned Denver area artist. There is also the opportunity to be awarded some prize ribbons for pieces selected by our own art instructors for what they feel are some of the most impressive submissions from our community. Last year we were responsive and held our art classes and our Spectrum Art Show virtually, and it was by no small part thanks to our fearless art show director Bobbi Shupe.

Bobbi ShupeBobbi started teaching with ACC’s Workforce and Community Programs in the early 1990’s. She taught Faux & Mural painting with classes filling and requiring a waiting list as Faux techniques were unbelievably hot! After fifteen years of teaching various painting classes, Bobbi stepped into the role of coordinating the Spectrum art show. Bobbi’s reputation in the art community throughout the Colorado region made her a perfect fit to coordinate Spectrum. Especially since all the participants of this art show attend or teach it the WCP community art program, which Bobbi has participated in as both.

Since Bobbi began coordinating the show five years ago, she was able to expose the show to a large network of art lovers. Bobbi works closely with Trish Sangelo, Director of the Colorado Gallery of the Arts, and they both work diligently to ensure the gallery reflects the incredible art that the students and instructors produce. The gallery exhibits art from all mediums: oil painting, watercolor, pen & ink, photography, mix media, and floral designs.

This year, although a live “live show” was the goal, it was safer to make the decision to keep it virtual. The Director of the gallery embraced the idea of a Virtual Gallery, as one of the positive developments attributed to the Pandemic. Thanks to Trish Sangelo and ACC’s digital marketing team Spectrum 2021 will be available from June 21-December 31, 2021, and can be viewed by a worldwide audience.

The Workforce and Community Programs Spectrum art show would not be what it is today without Bobbi Shupe, and our surrounding community of artists. She has provided the program with dynamic marketing and exposure, and is a true champion for the growth of the entire program. Since the art show has developed so much attention, the students and instructors have become inspired to produce their best artwork to display. If you never thought about it, or you took the last few summers off due to our health situation, take advantage or ACC’s Community Art program and maybe you can show off your work to your family and friends in a truly amazing gallery and exhibit.
