Sappington Earns Funeral Service Foundation Scholarships
Arapahoe Community College (ACC) Mortuary Science student Parker Sappington has earned the Foundation ’45 Scholarship and the Dennis Schoepp Memorial Scholarship (combined total of $5,000) from the Funeral Service Foundation.
Each year, the Funeral Service Foundation awards academic scholarships ranging from $2,500 - $5,000 to students attending and actively engaged in coursework in funeral service education programs at ABSFE / Canadian accredited institutions. Awarded in two annual cycles (fall and spring) and paid directly to institutions, these academic scholarships offset the costs associated with tuition, fees, books, and supplies.
“Being awarded these scholarships means so much to me – not only because they help ease the financial burden of tuition and expenses, but also because they motivate me to keep pushing myself, both as a student and as a funeral directing intern," states Sappington. "This generosity gives me the opportunity to focus more on my education and my career goals without the added stress of financial concerns.”
Since 1945, the Funeral Service Foundation has served as the philanthropic voice of the funeral profession and has identified as the charitable arm of the National Funeral Directors Association for over 25 years. Donors and volunteer leaders throughout the profession support the Funeral Service Foundation in its mission of lifting up grieving communities by investing in people and programs that strengthen funeral service.
