What is Opportunity Next?

To continue offering great opportunities for the next generation of Coloradans, there are key industries we need to grow. Opportunity Next was developed to help students reach their education and career goals by offering a one-time scholarship of up to $1,500.

Who is eligible?

Opportunity Next helps students from the class of 2024 (and equivalent, such as a GED completer) begin their educational journey in pursuit of a career that will help power Colorado forward. Opportunity Next was created by the state of Colorado; it allocates $25 million to accelerate skill development among graduating 2024 high school seniors.

To qualify for an Opportunity Next scholarship, you must:

  1. Be a class of 2024 high school graduate

  2. Complete the FAFSA or CASFA (must be submitted; do not need to demonstrate financial need)

  3. Apply to ACC

  4. Enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours in one of ACC’s eligible programs or apprenticeships in the fall of 2024

  5. Students who complete these first 4 steps will be automatically awarded an Opportunity Next scholarship while funding lasts (no additional application is required)

What is the duration of this scholarship?

ACC will award students until our Opportunity Next funds have been exhausted (currently, there is enough funding for approximately 700 students). This one-time scholarship of up to $1,500 per student to help cover tuition, fees, books, and equipment for the 2024-25 academic year.
