D2L Resources
At Arapahoe Community College, whether you're taking online classes or just need help with the online part of your traditional course, you will find the support you need to succeed. Our Learning Technology staff can help you use our online education tools, like D2L. If you are an ACC student or faculty member / instructor, we've got videos and instructional documents for an easier user experience.
*D2L courses become available on the day of your first class. Please use Detailed Scheduled under the Registration Tools in myACC to confirm your schedule and plan to log in to D2L on the start date for each of your classes.
What is D2L?
Desire2Learn, (D2L) is the learning management system ACC uses to offer both online and hybrid courses. This platform allows you to access your classes 24 hours a day, giving you the flexibility to review lectures, read course material, and complete assignments at a time that works for you. Participate in online discussions, submit assignments, and take quizzes through D2L. You can also use D2L to send course notifications and announcements straight to your cell phone or personal email to ensure you are always informed.
Class Management
You will have to complete assignments on time and prepare for tests, the same as students in traditional classes. But without a regular in-person class schedule, you will need to take more responsibility for viewing lectures and learning new material. Many students find it beneficial to set their own regular "class" times throughout the week.
Keeping up with class material also makes it easy to manage stress, which can affect both online and onsite students. Be proactive with studying and asking for help if you need it. Working steadily in a class is better than rushing to complete work at the last minute.
Build Community
Even if you don't have regular in-class contact, you can still connect with your fellow students. Make a point of getting to know other people taking your online class. Offer to meet others for study sessions or even to view lectures together, and offer help to other students if you can.
Stay Motivated
Don't lose track of why you're putting in the work and hours on an online class. Write down your own goals for the class and remind yourself of them often. Reward yourself for milestones, like tests and completed assignments.
