Placement Tests
If you are not submitting your current ACT / SAT scores, the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) requires you to take a college placement test to determine your readiness for college-level courses in math and English.
Types of Placement Tests Available
We offer the following placement tests through the ACC Testing Center:
- English (College Board ACCUPLACER)
- Math (College Board ACCUPLACER)
- Biology
- Take a practice test
- Language (French and Spanish)
Do I Have to Take a Test?
Please submit any of the following to the Testing Center to determine whether or not you need to take a placement test.
- ACT / SAT scores from within the past five years
- College placement scores from within the past five years
- Unofficial college transcripts showing college-level math and English
- ACCUPLACER test scores from another college
- High school transcript from within the past five years
- Other credits including AP, IB, CLEP, DSST, UXCEL
- Have your official transcript / scores sent to Records and Enrollment Services for evaluation

About ACC's College Placement Test
- Our general college placement test assesses skills in English and math
- Test scores will help determine which courses you should take and are valid for 5 years
- The test is not timed, but typically takes about 90 minutes to complete
- ACCUPLACER Placement Retesting
- The ACCUPLACER may only be taken one time on any given day.
- Retests for the English / Writing, Arithmetic, QAS math, and AAF math sections may be taken 3 times in a year. After the third time taking any of these assessments students will need to wait one year to test again.
- The Calculus math assessment may only be taken one time per semester.
- Complete our form to schedule your placement test and select the option you would like:
- On-Campus Testing - Cost is $10 for ACC students
- Examity - The cost is $35. A $10 test fee is paid to ACC and a $25 proctoring fee is paid to Examity. After paying ACC an email will be sent to the student with the next steps.

Getting Started for On-Campus Placement Testing
- Complete your request for ACCUPLACER Testing form
- Once the ACC Testing Center approves your request, you will receive an email from ACCUPLACER (noreply [at] accuplacer [dot] info) with your voucher code
Getting Started for Remote Placement Test(s) through Examity
- First check your computer requirements and all the details how to take an exam with Examity
- Complete your request for ACCUPLACER Testing form and select the ACCUPLACER Exam.
- Choose English, math or select both.
- On the next page select Examity Remote Online Testing - Make your payment
- You will receive further instructions from our staff
Scheduling ACCUPLACER Test(s) - Examity Only
We recommend that you schedule your ACCUPLACER test(s) at least 2 days in advance, so you can make sure you have adequate time to test your technology.
- To schedule the exam, login to Examity and click the “Schedule Exam” link, and follow the prompts.
- Once scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email with login credentials from Examity.

Taking the ACCUPLACER Test(s) - Examity Only
- Return to the Examity dashboard at the day / time you scheduled to meet your proctor and take the test(s).
- You will be asked to show the same current and valid photo ID you uploaded when creating your profile.
- You must have a voucher number provided by ACCUPLACER.
- You must test alone in a quiet room without disruptions.
The following are not allowed during testing:
- Food
- Drink
- Calculators
- Breaks
Scratch paper is allowed along with a standard pen / pencil. You will be asked to show both sides of your scratch paper to the proctor at the beginning and end of your test session.
