PURPOSE

To establish guidelines for implementing a reduction in force beyond the criteria established in SP 3-20c. This policy describes the criteria for reduction recommended by ACC’s shared governance framework.'

Reduction in Force

When there is a need for a reduction in force of non-provisional faculty under SP 3-20c, the regular non-provisional faculty shall be reduced using the following criteria:

  1. Non-provisional faculty with two out of three "needs improvement" evaluation ratings in the most recent three years shall be reduced in force first and in the order of least service credit to most service credit in the affected program area.

  2. Non-provisional faculty who have the least service credits in the affected program area shall be reduced in force next, except in cases where faculty qualifications are needed to maintain and/or grow program offerings.

  3. In cases of equal service credit in the affected program area, the faculty members who received a "needs improvement" evaluation rating in any of the previous three years shall be reduced in force next.

  4. If the above criteria still results in a tie, the non-provisional faculty in the impacted program area will be consulted to identify an agreeable tie breaker.
